Branches

UYAA organizes like a civics learning lab: three branches balance lawmaking, leadership, and fair interpretation of rules for the membership. This structure governs the association, not the State of Utah.

Legislative branch

UYAA Congress is where youth debate and advance bills and advisories. It includes the House of Youth Representatives and the Youth Senate—two chambers that can consider proposals, amend language, and vote using UYAA’s adopted procedures.

  • House of Youth Representatives
  • Youth Senate
  • Joint processes and conference-style work when needed

Executive branch

Elected officers (such as President and Vice President) help coordinate meetings, communicate decisions, and support committees. The executive side carries out adopted priorities and represents the organization in approved ways—without claiming governmental power.

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Executive officers and committees as defined in UYAA rules

Judicial branch

A review-style role helps interpret UYAA’s internal rules and resolve good-faith disputes between members, keeping the process respectful and consistent with the code of conduct.

  • Review / interpretation of UYAA rules
  • Internal dispute pathways
  • Focus on fairness and learning, not punishment outside the org’s scope
